Two weeks ago, we started a discussion on ‘The Fear of God’ and we will conclude today!

Recap

We learnt that the following:

Holy fear is the reverence and awe towards the Lord because of who He is and who we are.
The Fear of God means to reverence God enough, to not go against His commandments.
Holy fear is reserved for God only. We must not share this honor and worship we have for God, with another man. Exodus 20 v 3 No way!
It is more acceptable to have Holy fear from the angle of love for God, than for avoidance of the consequences of sin.
We can only show that we fear God when fellowship with Him, listen to Him and obey Him, and also serve in His house.

Benefits of having Fear of God are:

1. Wisdom (Proverbs 9 v 10)

NKJV: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

GNT: To be wise you must first have reverence for the Lord. If you know the Holy One, you have understanding.

2. Protection (Ps 34 v 7)

NKJV: The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.

GNT: His angel guards those who honour the Lord and rescues them from danger.

Today we will discuss another benefit of Fear of God which is having access to " THE DEEP SECRETS IN God’s HEART "

THE DEEP SECRETS IN God’s HEART

Objective

At the end of today’s bible study, You will understand that those who have Fear of God are able to access the deep secrets in God’s heart

Introduction

Story! Story!!

There was a very wealthy man called Gerrard who lived in the City of Texas with his pretty wife Mary, and two children - Anne and Puma.

Anne was a lovely, sweet girl who enjoyed spending time with her parents, dutifully serving in the house by doing house chores. She was an obedient girl, she respected her parents' opinion on any decision she took in her life. She listened carefully to her parents and did as she was told.

However, Puma was a badly behaved person. He disobeyed his parents at every slightest opportunity. He didn’t care about their wishes, nor did he accept to help in performing any house chores/duties around his parents’ house. Although his parents loved him, he neglected their love and lived his life as he pleased.

Years passed by and both kids grew up. They started living on their own, far away from their parents. However Anne was still very close to her parents. She called them daily, cared for them and never stepped out the boundaries of her parents wishes.

Sadly, Puma grew very wayward and never looked back to call his parents or check on his sister at any time. He was full of hate and disobedience.

One day, Gerrard (the father) and his wife Mary started making plans to show their grown up children Anne and Puma how to carry on with the Family’s wealthy business. They wished to hand over all the wealth of the family to the children. To do this, they needed to share all the business’ secrets, password to bank accounts, legal documents of the properties and also give them code to open the diamond treasure boxes. This was a long process and required daily discussions before they could go through all this tedious tasks of bequeathing the wealth to the kid.

Just because Anne was always calling and spending time with her parents, there was more than enough time to show Anne all she needed to know. They shared all the plans, showed her how to open the diamond safe boxes, told her about the plans for the future, and how to manage the wealth and properties of the family. Gerrard (the father) even introduced Anne to his business associates. Anne became very happy and inherited all the wealth of the family.

Why? Because she was available daily to speak to her parents. She showed that she loved her parents, and she could be trusted to do well with their business secrets.

Sadly, Puma was never available to talk to his parents. Even though his parents loved him very much too….but he was no where to be found. He could not access all the plans and passwords and codes to treasure boxes of his parents, simply because he was never attentive. He didn’t care, he didn’t listen! Puma denied himself the chance of knowing all the business secrets. He lived a difficult life, like a beggar.

Are you like Anne, or Puma?

THE DEEP SECRETS IN God’s HEART

Just like this story, God our father has many treasures. He has great plans in his mind for us and our future. Only his children who love him genuinely, speak to him, spend time with him, serve him in his household and respect his wishes are able to access these deep secrets in His mind.

When you worship God daily and serve Him with reverence in your heart, you will be able to access his Holy Place, his Holy Mind, and the deep secrets and plans he has for your future. Jeremiah 33 v 3; Heb. 10 v 19 - 20.

Open to:

Psalm 25 v 14

NKJV: The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.

GNT: The Lord is the friend of those who obey him, and he affirms his covenant with them.

Jeremiah 33 v 3

Call to me, and I will answer you; I will tell you wonderful and marvellous things that you know nothing about

John 14 v 21

T hose who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. My Father will love those who love me; I too will love them and reveal myself to them.

Daniel 2 v 22

He reveals things that are deep and secret; He knows what is hidden in darkness, and he himself is surrounded by light.

EXAMPLES OF THOSE GOD SHOWS THE DEEP SECRETS OF HIS HEART TO IN THE BIBLE

SAMUEL

Samuel was a child of God who served in the house of the Lord. And the lord showed Samuel a lot of deep secrets in His hearts. God told Samuel things he wanted to do to Eli, things He wanted to do in Israel. God showed Samuel the right person to crown as King etc. 1 Samuel 3.

DANIEL

Daniel feared and worshiped the Lord. Because of this, God showed Daniel many mysteries and secrets. One day, the king had a dream and became upset that he could not even remember the dream. But because Daniel could access God’s mind and the deep secrets in God’s mind; he was able to know that dream which the King had, and even was able to interpret it. Read Daniel Chaprter 2 .

PETER

Peter professed that Jesus is the Messiah, the true son of God. He spoke of great things that the human mind did not k now. And Jesus told him that flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but God himself revealed this to you. Read Matthew 16 v 13 – 19

In this story, Jesus asked His Disciples:

Who do people think I am? No one knew, except Peter. God had revealed this to Peter, and he boldly said it.

Because of this, Jesus blessed him and gave him a great promise. See below:

And so I tell you, Peter: you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church,
Not even death will ever be able to overcome you
I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven;
Whatever you command in earth, shall be permitted, because so shall it be in heaven.

These are beautiful promises, how many of you want these? If you do, then

1. spend time with God,

2. worship him daily in prayer and meditation, search God’s mind in quietness

3. Serve in God’s house

4. forsake sin and obey the Lord.

5. Obey your parents,

6. Love yourself, love God and love people around you.

Remember, the deep secret things in the mind of God , are accessible only to his Children who worship Him with reverence and fear in their heart…. alone, quietly, humbly and sincere, and truthful heart.

Last week, we started a discussion on " THE FEAR OF GOD "

We learnt that the following:

1. Holy fear is the reverence and awe towards the Lord because of who He is and who we are.

2. The Fear of God means to reverence God enough, to not go against His commandments. It means you care so much about what God thinks of you and your behaviour….so much that you don’t want mess up being HIS friend/child.

3. The FEAR we have for God is not because we are scared of him. If you fear God , you will serve Him with a humble and devoted heart. Do you?

4. He is our Lord, our God, our creator, our beginning and the end, the owner and saviour of our lives. So, we must have a special respect, reverence, and awe for him.

5. Holy fear is reserved for God only. We must not share this honor and worship we have for God, with another man. Exodus 20 v 3 No way!

To show that you have Holy fear for God, you are encouraged to:

1. Listen to….. (in prayer and calmness of heart)

Last week we said there are many nice things we gain when we fear God . Trust me. God surely knows how to reward His Children who give Him a high and special place in their hearts

Last week, we discussed Wisdom and learnt how God gave Noah wisdom to built an ark that saved him, his family and all animals; He also gave wisdom to Joseph to interpret dreams that made him the prime minister of Egypt.

Today we will discuss " Protection "

PROTECTION

Objective

At the end of today’s bible study, You will understand that God protects us when we fear Him.

Introduction

I want you to know that we fear God , not because of Divine Punishment for sins. Yes, God is a God of wrath, and he frowns at Sins. However, those who have Holy fear, do so, because they love God, not because they fear punishment for not obeying Him.

It is more acceptable to have Holy fear from the angle of love for God , than for avoidance of the consequences of sin.

So, we fear God because we love him so much and he loves us even more, that he would do anything to protect us.

I want you to know that special promises of protection and security are available to those who put their trust in the Lord and worship Him in truth and awe.

Open Psalms 34 v 7

NKJV: The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.

GNT: His angel guards those who honour the Lord and rescues them from danger.

PROPHET ELISHA (2 Kings 6 v 8 - 17)

Prophet Elisha was a great man of God who feared and served the Lord . He was famous in Israel. One day, a King sent an army to kidnap prophet Elisha so that he could deal with him.

However, God loved and protected Elisha so much that He sent an army of angels with spiritual horses and chariots, round about him to protect him.

Note that you need faith, and your spiritual eyes to be opened before you can understand and know and see that there is protection around you. May the Lord open your eyes to see this, and give you faith to believe in Jesus name. Amen.

Children, I want you to know that if you set aside a high place for God in your heart, he will live inside of you, and protect you from all adversaries in the world. He will also give you long life.

THE FEAR OF GOD

OBJECTIVE

At the end of today’s study session, you would have understood the following:

1. What the Fear of God means

2. Why we must fear God

3. Benefits of having Fear of God

4. Examples of those that have the Fear of God in the bible.

Now guys, fear of man, darkness, being alone in the room e.t.c. are unpleasant. But there is a type of fear that is HOLY. This is the Fear of God. It is also called Holy Fear!

What does The Fear of God Means?

Holy fear is the reverence and awe towards the Lord because of who He is and who we are.

The fear of the Lord means to reverence God enough to not go against His commandments. It means you care so much about what God thinks of you and your behaviour….so much that you don’t want mess up being HIS friend/child.

The Fear of God simply means we hold him high esteem, in high place in our heart, and we are mindful to do His Will, and not sin against Him.

The FEAR we have for God is not because we are scared of him. He’s not a monster, he’s not a bully! No! it’s just the way you love your parents so much that you’d never want them to disown you! So you try your best to honour their wishes, and behave well as they instruct you.

Other words for Fear in this context are:

1. Honor

2. Worship

3. Reverence

4. Respect

5. Devotion

6. Adoration.

7. Serve with humility

If you fear God, you will serve Him with a humble and devoted heart. Do you?

He is our Lord, our God, our creator, our beginning and the end, the owner and saviour of our lives. So, we must have a special respect, reverence, and awe for him.

Fear of God is not unpleasant, we do not fear God because he is harmful or wicked. We do not fear God because he is tyrant or a dictator. We fear him because we love him so much, that we cannot bear the pain of losing Him, or having a sour relationship with Him.

The Fear of God simply means we hold Him high esteem, in high place in our heart, and we are mindful to do His Will, and not sin against Him.

Discussion:

How much do you respect and honour your parents?
How high do you hold your parents in your heart?
Do you care less about your parents and their wishes, instructions, and guidance?

Share a story to explain the above questions to me.

Back to Holy Fear

Now I want you to tell me, if you can respect your parents so well, how much more God who created you, your parents,and the entire world. We must honour, worship, revere and fear God, we must hold him in high esteem in our heart, and place him as number 1 in all that we do.We must love God and a special bond with Him.

Know that We love God because he first loved us. John 15 v 13.

Do you understand?

However, I want you to know that this HOLY FEAR is reserved for God. Do not have this kind of fear for any human being. Only God is Great and deserves to be worshiped in awe, no one else! No man!.

Question:

How do you show that you have the fear of God ?

You can simply answer this question by thinking for a minute, that God is like your parents (or more than your parents) to you.

Shall we go over these:

1. Love, spend time with, and worship…….(daily devotion)

2. Listen to….. (in prayer and calmness of heart)

3. Obey…………(doing as He says in His word)

4. Doing the will………(no matter what)

5. Serving in His house……..(with diligence)

6. Be more interested in what God thinks, over a situation, than what your friends think!

From today, I want you to have a special honour, awe, and respect for God so much that you will never go against his Commandments. Can you remind me His two greatest commandments? Matthew 22:36-40 LOVE GOD; LOVE PEOPLE!

Before you make any decision about your life, or about your behaviour to others around you, I want you to ask yourself this question first! Would the Lord be happy with what I am about to do? Romans 12:10.

If this question is important to you before doing anything, then you have the Fear of God .

The Lord will help you.

Benefits of having Fear of God

There are many nice things we gain when we fear God. Trust me, God surely knows how to reward His Children who Him a high and special place in their heart.

1. Wisdom Prov 9 v 10

2. Protection Ps 34 v 7

3. Access to deep secrets in the heart of God Ps 25 v 14

Wisdom

Let us discuss wisdom. Open to Prov 9 v 10.

NKJV: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

GNT: To be wise you must first have reverence for the Lord . If you know the Holy One, you have understanding.

Examples of Those That Fear God in The Bible

NOAH

let us consider the life of Noah. He feared the Lord and refused to sin like his other countrymen were sinning. He was a devoted lover of God. Because of this, God gave him wisdom on how to be saved from the flood that destroyed the earth.

Read Gen 6 v 9 – 10 (GNT) . The Bible says Noah pleased God, he had no faults, and he walked in fellowship with God. He was the ONLY one who feared God in his time. Because of this, God gave him wisdom (detailed instructions) to build an ark.

When the flood came, Noah and his family were in the ark while God destroyed all the inhabitants of the earth.

JOSEPH

Also Joseph feared God and did not sin to Him. His master’s wife wanted to lure him into sin, but he refused Gen 39 vs 8 . God gave Joseph wisdom to interpret dreams and be diligent in his work, so much that he became the prime minister of Egypt . Do you know what it means to be head of Government in a foreign country? God can do much more for you. He can give you wisdom to become very great in life, only if you can fear him and walk with him with humility, awe, respect, reverence, absolute devotion and love!

We have been discussing Eternity

We discussed that our God is eternal, everlasting, endless and infinite. He has no beginning or end. He is ageless and he lives forever.

We also learnt that God wants His children to live with Him in Eternity. He made this possible by sending His Son Jesus to the world to die for our sins and save us. And anyone who believes Jesus will have Eternal Life.

Let us read John 3 v 16 (NIV) again.

For God so loved the world, that he gave His one and only son – Jesus – that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have ETERNAL LIFE.

Today we will discuss God's dwelling place - Heaven

Objective

1. After today’s Bible Study, you will understand that heaven is real, and so is hell.

2. You will understand that God’s home is heaven, and through Jesus, we have hope of eternal life with God in heaven. However, those who reject Jesus will be sent to hell!

Introduction

In previous weeks, we have been discussing eternity.

We have discussed Rapture, Judgment and the Book of life. These three pointed us to a common super truth, which is simply the fact that there is hope of eternal life, life of bliss without end, for anyone who accepts the salvation that Jesus Christ offers John 3 v 16 .

This eternal life, is in God’s beautiful palace, called Heaven . And we expect that Jesus will soon appear in the sky to call us home, to live with Him in his father’s house, forever

Today, we will discuss where God lives and why we should believe the place is real.

Question

Where do you think the King of England lives?

Where do you think the Presidents of Nigeria, Ghana and America live?

Tell me the names of the cities these people live in.

Do you dream of visiting any of this place some day?

See the palace where the King of England lives. It is called the Buckingham Palance in London.

See below where the President of United States of America lives. It is called The White House in Washington DC

See below where the President of Nigeria lives. It is called The Aso Villa in Abuja Nigeria

See below where the President of Ghana lives. It is called Presidential Villa in Accra, Ghana

Do you agree with me that everyone has a home where they live? Just as you have a home where you live with your parents, every one has a place they live.

You just saw above, beautiful homes of world leaders and kings. Do you know that God is even King of all kings and all worldly leaders? Isa 9 v 6 – 7, 1Tim 6 v 15 And do you know he also has a home?

Now Having seen all these beautiful houses where these earthly kings and leaders live,

where exactly do you think God lives?

Did you say Heaven?

What is heaven?

1. Heaven is God’s Home. His Palace. His dwelling place.

God lives on His Throne in Heaven Ps 11 v 4a and the earth is just like his footstool I sa 66 v 1a.

The beauty of this home is more than human wisdom can describe. It is more beautiful than the most beautiful palace on earth. There is no perfect picture I can show you, because no one could ever draw it from human artistry. The closest I can show you is below:

Discussion

God reigns in his palace (Heaven) eternally and wants us to live with him in heaven forever, on the condition that we accept His Son Jesus as our Lord and Savior John 3 v 16 .

Would you love to be there?

Guess what, having access to eternal life in heaven, is free. To go to earthly palaces like Buckingham Palace in United Kingdom or White house in America, you have to pay money. But to go to heaven, you don’t have to pay money. It is free!

Just do the following:

1. Give your life to Jesus and be born again John 3 v 3

2. Confess with you mouth that he is your Lord Romans 10 v 10b

3. Believe Him in your heart, and embrace the gift of righteous life, that’s all. Romans 10 v 10a

4.Live a new life in Christ. Become a new person 2 Cor 5 v 17

Simple! You’re going to heaven!

Question:

Why should I believe that Heaven is real?

Children, as you grow older in life, you will meet many people, teachers in school, even you may read it in your science books that heaven isn’t real! They will try to convince you that there is no physical proof of heaven, because no one alive has seen it.

However, today I want you to know that according to Christian Faith, we believe that Heaven is real! And you must hold this truth, dear to your heart!

Our Lord Jesus told his disciples that he was going to heaven to prepare a place for us. He described Heaven as His Father’s mansion, and told us that there are many rooms. He said he would come back to take us to heaven to live with him. He even said if it wasn’t real, he wouldn’t have said so! So we believe Jesus, that indeed there is a place where his father lives, and we believe that he will come back to take us there. We have hope that we will live in heaven1 peter 1 v 3 - 4

Let us read John 14 v 1 0 4

Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back. Then I will take you with me, so that you can be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Say with me HEAVEN IS REAL!”

Say with me, Heaven is beautiful

What is Hell?

Hell is a place created for those who reject Jesus. It was originally created for the devil. Those who reject Jesus will go to Hell, a place of fire and eternal death Matt 25 v 41

Is hell real?

Oh yes it is!

The Bible says anyone whose name is not in the Book of life, will be thrown into lake of fire, which is HELL. So it is a place that exists, it is real! Rev 20 v 15

This will not be your portion in Jesus name.

Conclusion

I encourage you today to continually check that you remain in Jesus Christ and obey Him as your Lord.

Embrace the gift of salvation and righteousness

Going to heaven is not about being morally upright, it is not about what you do or do not do, or being rich or poor, black or brown or white.

It is simply about giving your life to Jesus, Believe Him and Obey Him.

We h ave been discussing ETERNITY

What is Eternity?

Eternity is a mark of endlessness, meaning no beginning and no ending. Eternity is more than a billion years! Eternity simply means forever.

Synonyms of Eternity are:

· forever,

· Infinity,

· unending

· perpetuity

· permanent

· everlasting.

We discussed that our God is eternal, everlasting, endless and infinite. He has no beginning or end. He is ageless and he lives forever.

Let us read John 3 v 16 (NIV) again.

For God so loved the world, that he gave His one and only son – Jesus – that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have ETERNAL LIFE.

Today we will discuss Judgment

Objective

At the end of Today’s Bible Study, I will understand that only those who are in Christ Jesus will be judged 'not guilty' on the judgment day.

Introduction

What does judgment mean to you? Have you ever heard the word JUDGMENT?

Tell me about it.

What do you understand from the pictures below?

Has there been anytime that your school classmate accused you of something you did, or did not do? Such that you both had to go to your teacher (or even worse, the head teacher’s office) to tell your story.

How did it happen. Tell me. Take a cue from the picture below, where a child is telling on another child.

Who was judged guilty in your case?

What happened to the person who was judged guilty and the person judged not guilty?

Discussion

Judgment is a decision given about a person, on a matter, after careful consideration of what that person has done.

When someone is accused of doing something wrong, the accuser may take the accused to the court of law. A judge will hear the matter from each party and judge the accused, Guilty or Not Guilty.

Boys and Girls, today I’d like us to learn that a day is coming when each of us will appear before the throne of God to account for what we did while living on earth. This day, will be after we have died, or passed away from earth.

On that day -

· God will be the judge, and he will judge what everyone has done.

· The great decision God will make is to decide whether each person being judged, will go to heaven or hell.

The decision whether you go to heaven or hell, is simply based on whether (or not) you give your life to Jesus, forsake your sins and live a righteous and an obedient life

Anyone who is judged guilty will go to hell, a place where fire burns endlessly. This is the eternal death! those who will be judged guilty, are those who do not give their lives to Jesus, those who live a sinful life. It will not be your portion in Jesus name.

Anyone who is justified by Christ, will be judged not guilty, and will go to heaven, a place of eternal bliss and peace. This is the eternal life. This is why you must give your live to Jesus, forsake living a sinful life, and allow the Holyspirit to help you live a righteous life, in obedience to Christ and the word of God. This will be your portion in Jesus name.

Now let us read the Bible.:

Hebrews 9 v 27 says

Everyone must die ONCE, and after that be judged by God.

2 Corinthians 5 v 10 says

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Super Truth

By now im sure you’re wondering what do I do to be judged ‘Not Guilty’?

It is very simple. Only those who believe in Jesus Christ, and live in obedience to him will not be judged guilty.

Let us read Romans 8 v 1(Easy to Read Version) says

So now, anyone who is in Christ Jesus is not judged guilty.

That is because in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit that brings life made you free. It made you free from the law that brings sin and death

Conclusion

I encourage you today to continually check that you remain in Jesus Christ and obey Him as your Lord.

Embrace the gift of salvation and righteousness

Going to heaven is not about being morally upright, it is not about what you do or do not do, or being rich or poor, black or brown or white.

It is simply about giving your life to Jesus, Believe Him and Obey Him.

What is Eternity?

Eternity is a mark of endlessness, meaning no beginning and no ending. Eternity is more than a billion years! Eternity simply means forever.

Synonyms of Eternity are:

· everlasting.

We discussed that our God is eternal, everlasting, endless and infinite. He has no beginning or end. He is ageless and he lives forever.

Let us read John 3 v 16 (NIV) again.

For God so loved the world, that he gave His one and only son – Jesus – that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have ETERNAL LIFE.

The Book Of Life

Objective

At the end of Today’s Bible Study, I will understand that only children of God will have their names written in the Book of life.

I will also understand that anyone whose name is not in the book of life will not live with God in heaven, but will be thrown in Hell fire

Introduction

The book of life is God’s book. It is a book where God writes names of those who will live with Him in heaven forever.

It may also be called

The Book of the living (Rev 20 v 15 GNT)

The Book of heaven (Luke 10 v 20 GNT)

Do you recall that when you go to school every day, your teacher brings out a book or a list of pupil’s names in the class. She calls out each name to confirm attendance and eligibility of pupils staying in such class. And each of you would answer, or acknowledge your presence, either by raising your hand or nodding or answering

Can you tell me if your teacher has a register?

Is it a book, list, or s/he calls it from her computer?

Does he/she call out names?

What time of the day?

How do you answer?

When I was your age…I‘d say ‘present ma’!

Is it possible that someone may be allowed to sit in your class, whose name is not in your teacher’s register?

No!

Discussion

Today I want to tell you boys and girls, that God has a similar register, where He writes names of believers. It is called the book of life!

Luke 10 v 20b says…..be happy because your names are written in the book of heaven

The BOOK OF LIFE is God’s register, where he writes names of those who

· Have made a confession of salvation with their mouth

· have accepted Jesus as their Lord,

· have embraced the gift of salvation

· are living a righteous life by faith

Revelation 21 v 27 (adapted)

….and nothing unclean, and no one who lies, shall ever come into heaven, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s BOOK OF LIFE.

As a matter of fact, Revelation 20 v 15 says -

And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Would you like to live with Jesus in eternity? Do you desire to go to Heaven and not hell?

If your answer is yes, then your name has to be in the book of life.

RAPTURE

This is the second coming of Christ, which marks the beginning of eternity for Children of God

Objective

At the end of today’s bible study, You will understand that the same way Jesus ascended up to heaven, he will come back , appearing in the sky, to call us with a loud trumpet, that it’s time to go live with him in heaven.

Introduction

Do you remember Jesus died for our sins on the cross? John 19:17-18

Do you also remember that after he died on the cross, he was buried and on the third he resurrected, He rose from the dead, He woke up? See picture of Jesus' grave below, it's empty, Our Lord rose up from the dead! John 20.

After he woke up, he went to heaven. Now watch this video to see how Jesus went to heaven

Discussion

I want to tell you today, that as Jesus was going up into the sky, angels told his disciples that Christ is coming back for us, to take us to heaven.

Jesus is coming back Hooray!

One day, Jesus will appear in the sky, and will call all his children (with a loud trumpet sound) to fly and join him in heaven to live together, forever. This is known as the second coming of Christ, which is Rapture

Do you understand?

See the an angel below, blowing rapture trumpet, and Jesus appearing in the sky.

Once Jesus appears in the sky, believers will fly to meet him in the sky, and we will all go to heaven to live with Him, forever. This is the eternal life.

Boys and girls, please note that those who have died as believers of Christ will fly up to the sky first, and thereafter, those that are alive will also fly up to join Him.

That day, you may see your great grandma, flying up and Im sure you'll say 'Daddy, see grandma flying up! Before you could blink again, you also will be caught up in the air, and you will be raptured, flying up into the sky to meet our Lord Jesus.

Jesus ascends into heaven

Acts 1 v 10 – 11.

After saying this, Jesus was taken up to heaven as they watched him, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They still had their eyes fixed on the sky as he went away, when two men dressed in white suddenly stood beside them and said, “why are you standing there looking up at the sky? This Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way that you saw him go to heaven .”

Rapture

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

16 There will be the shout of command, the archangel's voice, the sound of God's trumpet, and the Lord Jesus himself will come down from heaven.

Those who have died believing in Christ will rise to life first; then we who are living at that time will be gathered up along with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

And so we will always be with the Lord.

Question

When will Jesus come back? When is this rapture day? When is the second coming of Jesus Christ?

Answer

Boys and girls, The Bible says only God the Father, knows the exact hour that rapture will happen. Read the Bible Verse below.

Matthew 24 v 36 (Easy to Read Version)

“No one knows when that day or time will be. The Son and the angels in heaven don’t know when it will be. Only the Father knows".

Conclusion

So I ask you today, when Jesus appears in the sky, will you be ready to fly high up into the sky to join Him and live with Him till eternity?

Only those who give their lives to Jesus will live with Him in eternity.

If you wish to give your life to Jesus today, or you had done so before but would like to re-affirm it today, say this prayer after me.

Today we will be starting a discussion on PROPHECY

OBJECTIVE

At the end of today’s study session, you would have understood these things:

1. Prophecy is a gift from God to his children, to command their desire into existence, through the Word of God.

2. As believers, the gift of prophecy is our magic wand, which we weild when God opens our eyes to see the truth about what is happening to us presently, or what will happen in the future.

3. Any prophecy that is not in alignment with the Word of God and will of God for our lives must be immediately rejected.

INTRODUCTION

Have you ever heard the word Prophecy? If yes, tell me what you understand by the word PROPHECY.

· Prophecy is an act of telling w hat will happen in the future , Prophecy is an act of telling about an event before it occurs.

· Prophecy is a gift from God to his children, to command their desire into existence, through the Word of God.

· A child of God prophesies in prayer, using the knowledge of the word of God , or what God shows you during meditation in His word or by the inspiration of the Holyspirit 2 Peter 1 v 20 - 21

· As believers, the gift of prophecy is our magic wand, which we weild when God opens our eyes to see the truth about what is happening to us presently, or what will happen in the future.

Have you ever been to a restaurant to have a meal with your family? Tell me about it

When you got there, how did you get your food?

· You chose a restaurant to visit

· You literarily checked the menu

· Made a choice of food and called the waiter

· Ordered the waiter, to bring this and that

· And without hesitation, your order appears on your table.

· Before or after your meal, you paid money.

Now let us consider this step by step

You walked into a restaurant/kitchen

A restaurant/kitchen is the place where you dine. Similarly, in the spiritual realm, this can be compared to your private place of prayer where you talk to God and meditate on His word. It may also be the church of God/fellowship where you meet other believers to commune with God in worship and prayers.

· Prayers can be private

· Prayers can be corporate (Group prayer of agreement)

Both are important, it helps keep a healthy prayer life. Eating alone and privately all the time may become boring at some time. You may want to go out with friends and family to explore nicely prepared meals at the best 5 star restaurants. Likewise, just as it is important to observe private prayers and meditation, it is a good thing to fellowship with other brethren. Iron sharpens iron, do not forsake the congregation of believers.

You pick up the menu to know what the restaurant offers

The menu from which you place you order is the word of God. This is the Bible.

The Bible is not just a book. It is the manual for living a victorious Christian life. The Bible is full of God’s promises (like delicious, nourishing meals). When you pick up the Bible to study, the meals available in it are always hot and fresh. It’s like the yummiest chicken burger I have ever had. Oh my! It’s aroma fills the room, and refreshes the soul. You can savour the peace that comes with studying the word of God. It is simply amazing, heavenly!

Come on, roll your eyes back and say……...Yummy! The word of God is delightful to His children.

If you don’t eat from the word of God, your spirit man will starve to death . Which of these two do you think is well fed and strong enough to live healthy life? That is how our spirit man looks like. Healthy or Malnourished.

Call on the waiter

The waiters are the angel of God. they serve us, they wait on us. Heb 1 v 14 and Psalm 34 v 7 They carry out our instructions, in the spiritual realm. When you prophesy in prayers, you are simply placing an order for your meal, and it will soon arrive. Amen.

Prophesy - Place your order

This is the real deal. A child of God is not a slave or a beggar. The Bible says we should decree a thing, and it shall be done Job 22 v 28.

With assurance of faith, prophesy a good future, healing, deliverance, breakthrough etc and it will happen. Speak boldly, God hears! Jer 33 v 3

Placing your demand on the angels of God should not be confused with prideful prayers. I am not saying you should be boastful or arrogant in prayers like the man who prayed in Luke 18 v 10-14 . What I am saying is that you must be full of faith and God assurance, when prophesying His word, to become a reality in your life. Don’t pray pitiful prayers, don’t beg pitifully. Access God throne, gracefully, boldly. 1 John 5 v 14

Be warned though. If you order what is not on the menu, the waiter will not honour your order, likewise, if you prophesy what does not conform with the Bible, the Word of God or if you prophesy what is against God’s will, you are at risk of just bluffing . The angels of God wont understand your language.

It is like computer program. How many of you understand coding? if you enter an invalid command language, the computer throws up an error. So children of God who want to prophesy and command the best results to happen in the future, must do so within the confines of the love of God, and in alignment with the will of Jesus.

You pay money

Do you also notice that you pay money for what you order in a restaurant? When you prophesy in prayer, the currency of payment is faith! If you make an order in a restaurant without money, your order will not be honoured.

Likewise, if you prophesy in prayer, commanding something into existence, it can only be granted if you have faith! Heb 11 v 1

Faith is the substance of what we hope for, the evidence of what you can not see. when you prophecy, you are speaking about what does not physically exist yet. How then do you prophesy the future, without believing what you say? Without faith, you cannot get anything from God! Heb 11 v 6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

For you children, synonyms of faith are: Confidence, Boldness, Assurance in God etc

In prophesying, believing the word of God you profess (say), is highly important.

Do you understand?

If you have money, you can buy most of your physical heart desires. Likewise, if you have faith , even as little as a small seed, you can command, order and prophesy your Godly heart desires into existence. So FAITH is the currency you use, when transacting with heaven.

Prophecy is a 3 course meal. Yummy!

Starter :

This is praise, worship and meditation in the Word. It brings alive your appetite, gets you into the mood of praying and ultimately prophesying.

Main course (buffet, platter, take away etc): these are private and corporate prayers and prophecies…as you grow more matured in Christ, these are various ways to reap God’s promises for your life

Desert: reassuring testimonies from yourself and other children of God that you hear.

Before you prophesy, always start with praise. Jesus offered praise to God, before he spoke to Lazarus to rise from the dead. Read John 11 v 41 - 44

Ouch, Beware of Food Poisoning. Beware of Alergy!

Food poisoning is when a meal goes wrong in your body. This may be because you have allergy, or because the chef served you a bad food.

Evil prophecies are food poisoning. Avoid them by all means. When you see someone who says negative things to you or around you, run away or cut them off. Reject it immediately. That is food poisoning.

A child of God must be allergic to sin. You avoid it by all means. Just as you are watchful to remove a food ingredient you’re allergic to, from your food, you must be watchful to remove sin from your life, otherwise, whatever you prophesy will not happen.

Also beware of fake prophets who speak doom. Matt 24 v 4 - 5 says in the end time, there will fake prophets who speak what God does not say, because of their love for money.

People who prophesy what is not the will of God are fake prophets, we must run away from them. Read 2 Peter 2 v 1 - 3

The Act of Prophesying

I am sure by now, you, as a child is wondering, 'How Do you Prophesy'?

We have used the illustration of food and restaurant, to help you understand what prophesy, order, decreeing means. Now let us discuss the act of prophesying. You simply utter the following words, in prayer:

The Bible says…abc… and It is written…efg…………..therefore I prophesy that ……xyz………..will happen, in the name of JESUS. Amen.

This looks like prayer, yes it is indeed prayer, but a higher realm in praying .

In praying, you simply request, but in prophesying you command, you order and you stand as an authority, using God's word to command, or speak of what God shows you about yourself, someone else or any thing. You speak the Word of God, as the Lord puts it into your mouth, about what is happening presently, or about the future.

Do you understand?

So stand up and let us prophesy

Dear father, I have heard your word today, I thank you for making me your child. And by being your child, I have assurance that whatever I say here on heart, shall be granted in heaven, Matt 18 v 18 - 20. Therefore I prophesy, that I am a blessed child. I prophesy, that I will live long and serve God. I prophesy that family will experience breakthrough. My family is healthy and rich. I break free from sin and fear. I am the head, not the tail. I see a bright future ahead of me. My light is shining bright. I am wise. I am strong. I am a hero.

BRIDLE (part 2)

I welcome you to today's Bible study session. I pray that the Lord will grant you understanding of this topic in Jesus name. Amen.

Today we will be going further in our discussion on BRIDLE as we discuss the use of our mouth versus ears. Which one is more important and why?

OBJECTIVE

At the end of today’s study session, you would have understood these things:

1. Children of God should listen carefully think before they speak

2. The tongue is a small part of the body, but can put the whole body into trouble, if not tamed.

3. Just as a tree cannot produce both sweet and sour fruits, your tongue should not say both sinful and holy words. You must choose where you belong. Good or Bad?

INTRODUCTION

We have learnt in previous lesson that a horsemaster controls the performance of a horse by using BRIDLE, which is an equipment worn on the mouth of a horse.

God delights in those who can, by the help of the Holy spirit, control the use of their mouth!

I want you to look at the two pictures below.

We use our ears for listening and we use our mouth for speaking

which is more important? Let me know your opinion on this.

Now let us see what the Bible has to say about listening vs speaking.

By all means, the Lord wants us to listen more than we speak, he wants us to listen well, process what we have heard, organise our thoughts and speak wise words. All these can happen in split of seconds, with the help of the Holyspirit, living inside us as children of God

To drive home this point, let us consider the speech cycle of a child of God.

Open your Bible and read 1 Cor 13 v 11,

Children of God who are spirit filled, and matured must go through the speech cycle below

When you go in reverse direction, then you are unbridled, and you may fall into trouble or look foolish. The reverse direction in the image below is upside down, because anyone who speaks hastily before they think, understand or listen are unwise or immature.

Further discussion

Always remember, A child of God without a bridled tongue, is prone to be used by the devil.

A child of God who does not think before speaking, will fall into trouble, or destroy himself or herself; because the bible say that the tongue is a dangerous organ, if not tamed.

The Bible says the tongue is like fire, and it can put the whole body into trouble. Let us read James 3 v 2 - 12

You can be smart, brilliant, handsome, beautiful and charming. But if you fail to control the use of your mouth, those who are less intelligent than you are, will be preferred over you.

Story Story!!

Hannah was a little charming girl who lived with her mother in a small village. She was very brilliant and intelligent. All her teachers loved her! She was the most brilliant in her class. Hannah was very good in all subjects at school. Even in sports, Hannah had no match. Sadly, her mates in class, (even her teachers and friends in the neighbourhood) didn’t really like her, because she always lied and spoke to people arrogantly.

When Hannah got to year 6, it was time to select the senior girl in school. She was so proud and confident that she would be the most preferred person to wear the crown. No one else deserved to be the senior girl; Hannah arrogantly told her friends!

One day at the school dining hall, there was a new comer in class who tried to move close to Hannah to say hello. As she moved close, she mistakenly spilled water on Hannah’s jumper. Whattttt!!! Are you Blind!!! Hannah barked. The whole hall went silent. The new girl was ashamed and immediately apologised. Hannah wouldn’t listen, but continued to insult the new girl.

Unfortunately, external examiners from other schools were in the school hall, unknowing to Hannah. They were disappointed at such behaviour, and made a bad recommendation about Hannah’s temper and manners. This affected the choice of making Hannah the preferred person to become senior girl, and the post was offered to the next best person in class.

How sad!

In conclusion, boys and girls, I want to encourage you to think carefully before saying anything, even in moments of anger, anxiety or over-joy; pray for a second and say ‘Lord help me’ and indeed, the Lord will always help you to say the right thing and act the right way.

Remember, Bridle your Mouth, have self control and let the Holyspirit help you to have self caution in talking, and in eating.

Be Bold, Be expressive, yet Bridled!

Dear father I have heard your word today, I yield to your desire to bridle my tongue Lord. I release myself to the help the Holyspirit, to control what I say, how I say it, and when I say it. Help me to speak words that are full of your love.

From today, I make a promise to you Jesus, that I will never tell lies, curse nor hurt my friends and other people around with me, with the words of my mouth. Help me Jesus to praise and worship you….and never to be possessed by the devil to use sinful words, give false witness or deny you as my Lord.

OBJECTIVE

1. A horse master wears a bridle on the mouth of his horse to have full control

2. Children of God must allow the Holyspirit to guard their mouth, to speak only of what glorifies God.

3. God delights in people who can, by the help of the Holyspirit, control the use of their mouth/tongue. God wants you to bridle your tongue

INTRODUCTION

Can you please tell me the name of the animal in the picture above?

Have you seen this animal in real life before?

Have you ridden this animal before?

How useful is this animal? What can we use it for?

Do you know any special abilities that this animal has? Can it dance, swim, can it jump over a barrier? Does it get tired easily? How tall or large do you think this animal is?

A horse is a very strong animal used for

1. Travel

2. Race/Sport

3. War etc

We can go on and on to talk about horses. They are beautiful and strong creatures. Did you know that a horse could swim, jump a high huddle or even help in fighting war? Horses are very strong and useful to whosoever who owns them.

A person who mounts a horse, rides and controls them is called HORSERIDER.

I would also like you to know that as useful as a horse is, it has a tendency to be proud, uncontrollable and dangerous if not handled with care. I have seen in movies where people fall from horses and die.

However, today, we are going to discuss an important equipment that helps horse riders control horses. It is called BRIDLE. A bridle is worn on the mouth of a horse. It helps the horse rider control the performance of the horse at every time.

A horse could be dangerous if it’s not bridled or if it’s not well handled.

DISCUSSION

Today I would like you to, for a moment, imagine that you were a horse. And God is your horse rider. God can go to many places, reach out to many people in the world to save them, by traveling around on you, as his horse.

Imagine that you were the horse in the picture above, and God is one on your back, ready to travel through you and minister unto others .

God’s children, are horses in His hands, which he can use to fight wars, or go to places, to deliver messages, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible calls them useful instruments 2 Tim 2 v 21 (NIV), Another version of the Bible calls them Vessels unto Honour.

Bridled horses are calm, controllable and highly useful to their MASTERs. See the picture above.

If you allow the Holyspirit to take over your live, He will set a guard over your mouth, and make your words to be full of love and wisdom.

Unbridled Christians

Can you also imagine, as you are a horse, that you do not have a Bridle. How dangerous and uncontrollable do you think you could be?

Or do you think your horse rider will be delighted in using you for his works? NO!

No horse rider wants to use an unbridled horse! They are dangerous and possessed by the devil. They are full of rage, anger and lies.

CHILDREN OF GOD MUST HAVE BRIDLED TONGUE

I told you earlier that a Bridle is worn on the mouth of a horse. A horse master wears the bridle on the mouth of his horse, to have full control of the horse.

Similarly, God delights in people who can, by the help of the Holyspirit, control the use of their mouth/tongue. God wants you to bridle your tongue.

Now to make you understand, can you tell me two major functions you use your mouth for?

Eating and Talking.

Let us consider 'Talking'

Talking/Speaking –

· Should you speak without caution?

· Should you just open your mouth and use vulgar words?

· Should you speak rudely to other people or curse them with your mouth?

· Should you hurt the feelings of others with the words of your mouth?

· Is it okay to curse yourself, or use your mouth to destroy the things you have?

· What about lying and giving false witness?

· What about denying being a Christian, with your mouth?

· How do you use your mouth, in the moment of anger? Tell me.

Open your Bible and read James 1 v 26 (NKJV)

If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not BRIDLE his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

Also open your Bible to Prov 12 v 22-23 GNT

The Lord hates liars, but is pleased with those who keep their word.

Smart people keep quiet about what they know, but stupid people advertise their ignorance.

Today I want you to know that a bridled tongue is what God desires from his children. A tongue that only speaks of what edifies (glorifies) the name of God. It is okay to talk freely and be expressive….but be sure they are full of love and wisdom of God.

I encourage you today to always think carefully before you speak. Let the words of your mouth be acceptable unto the Lord. Psalm 19 v 14. Let the words of your mouth give glory, honour and worship unto your God. Do not say things that Jesus would frown at! Why? Because Jesus hears everything you say, every time, any where.

The best use of your mouth, is to proclaim that Jesus is Lord. Sing Halleluyah. Speak of God’s goodness and make confession unto Salvation. Read Romans 10 v 10

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Let us consider 'Eating'

We will go further to discuss another function of the mouth which is Eating.

As children, can we bridle our tongue when it comes to eating.

We must have self control when it comes to eating.
We must eat healthy.
We must be mindful of how we behave when strangers offer us edible gifts
We must not become unsettled at mere sight of food, or smell of its of aroma

Read Daniel 1 v 8 - 16

Daniel was offered the King's royal food, delicious and inviting. However, he politely declined the offer, because at that time, he decided to eat healthy fruits and vegetables only, fast and spend some time with God in prayers. The Bible says Daniel and his friends looked healthier and finer than others, in a matter of about two weeks. So my young friends, I encourage you today, to make a decision to not only eat healthy, but also have self control over eating excessively and from strangers.

Always remember, A child of God without a bridled tongue, is prone to be used by the devil.

Dear father I have heard your word today, I yield to your desire to bridle my tongue Lord. I release myself to the help the Holyspirit, to control what I say, how I say it, and when I say it.

Help me to speak words that are full of your love.

From today, I make a promise to you Jesus, that I will never tell lies, curse nor hurt my friends and other people around with me, with the words of my mouth.

Help me Jesus to praise and worship you….and never to be possessed by the devil to use sinful words, give false witness or deny you as my Lord.

We have had two lessons on the topic 'A HOME FOR CHRIST'. We established that our private place in the Home, is our room. .Jesus would like to come in to dwell in, and own this room (our heart). Revelation 3 v 20

We also discussed that all the desires, cravings and fantasies of our hearts, should be within the boundaries of the love of Christ.

Today we shall conclude this discussion of making our Hearts A home For Christ by discussing – ‘Captain of My Soul’

Matthew 6 v 24

What’s its purpose and how does it move?

Who directs this object as a pilot directs a plane?

If this object is misdirected, what can happen?

· It could go to the wrong destination

· It could sink or capsize

Discussion

Now I would like you to IMAGINE that your soul, your heart, and your life is a SHIP. Whether you like it or not, every life is headed in a direction, and carries many loads aboard, just like a ship.

My question to you today is, WHO is the Captain of your life? The devil, or the Lord?

This is not a question of convenience, you don’t have to tell me the answer. The way you live your life, what comes out of your mouth and how you behave, tells us a lot about whom the Captain of your life is.

Who is a captain and what are his duties?

1. A captain leads a Ship, just as a driver drives a car (pilot: airplane)

2. A captain decides when the ship moves, the speed, the destination and everything else.

3. A Captain is the one in command, he’s the one in charge. He’s the Boss of everyone else on the ship for the time of the trip/voyage.

4. Note that there can be no two Captains in a ship ….there may be many co-captains, but ONLY ONE CAPTAIN is permitted per ship/voyage. (you cannot have two masters)

Open to Matthew 6 v 24

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.

This means you cannot have Jesus and Satan in your heart at the same time. You must choose one!

Now let us read Romans 8 v 14.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

This simply means, if the captain leading the ship of your life is the Spirit of God, then you are a child of God.

Some people believe they are the captain of their lives, meaning they believe they can decide what happens to them, they say ‘’It’s my Life!’’ but they are completely wrong.

As children of God, we are just like vessels (ship, boat, canoe, ferry etc) and our lives is directed mostly by the following:

1. God or the devil (as the CAPTAIN)

2. Our parents (as the co-captain)

3. Others around us, e.g. our school teachers, counsellors, church pastors, even myself, teaching you here. We are all co-captains

We take instruction from the CAPTAIN, and he helps you to understand and live your life. In as much as all co- captains can help you, you have the responsibility to decide whom your captain is. Choose wisely, Choose prayerfully. As you grow up, make a decision, to allow Jesus, to dwell in your heart, and be your captain, leading you through life, to eternal glory .

Are you in the Lord’s ship, or the devil’s ship?

Qualities of those who have Lord Jesus as the Captain of their lives

1. You must be born again

2. You must flee from sins and bad behaviour

3. You must fellowship with the Lord, by reading his word and praying to Him

4. You must be full of love. Love God, and love your neighbour as yourself.

5. You must be diligent, hardworking, respectful and obedient to your parents. You cannot claim Jesus as your captain, and behave rudely at home. NO!

Qualities of those who have refused the Lord Jesus as the Captain of their lives

1. They live a sinful life of disobedience to the Lord and their parents

2. They have hatred, pride, and envy in their heart

3. They have wild cravings and evil desires

4. They love money more than God.

5. They are headed for destruction!

6. There are many more.

Know that by their fruit, you shall know them. Matt 7 v 20

By their behaviour, you will recognise those who are led by the Lord, or the devil.

JESUS CAN CALM EVERY STORM

What happens to the lives of those who allow Jesus to Captain their live

1. They have peace and joy and love and wisdom

2. Jesus leads them to salvation. Heb 2 v 10b

3. They will go to heaven

4. They become successful in life, they live a good, healthy and comfortable life

5. They are full of love and fulfilment

6. They have hope of victory, over any temptation that comes like an iceberg.

Don’t you like to have all these?

Let me show you an example of how the Lord can GIVE YOU VICTORY, if you allow him to take control of your ship/life.

Watch the video below, to see how Jesus calms the storm, when a great storm attacked the disciples’ boat.

Do you remember Jonah, God was not in ship, when the storm arose, he ended being thrown into the sea, and was swallowed up by a whale. If not for God’s mercy, he would have perished.

I encourage you to always check that you have the Lord in your life, always. Be his child and fellowship with him daily. Let him take charge!

CONCLUSION

Have you ever wondered how you can live a successful life, amidst all the chaos that are all around in life. There is hunger, war, poverty, sickness and young deaths all around us. Many people have missed it in life, and they are living in suffering, pains and with lack of purpose.

The only way to be free of this, is for you to decide in your heart, that right from a very young age, you will yield your life completely to the Lord, and invite him to be the captain your life. Let him take over. Ask him anything you want in prayer. Believe he is your Lord. And Let the will of the Lord prevail in all that you do, think or say . Respect the opinion of your parents, and always to talk to the Lord in prayer. Be full of love for yourself and others around you.

The Lord will help you!

1. Lord I release my life to you, take the wheel and be my Captain. Direct my life Lord.

2. I refuse to be disobedient to your leading. I refuse to board the devil’s ship that heads for destruction.

Last week we started a discussion on A HOME FOR CHRIST. We established that our private place in the Home, is our room. We are careful and cautious of whom or what we allow into it. We likened our heart/mind to our room and we also discussed how Jesus would like to come in to dwell in, and own this room (our heart). Revelation 3 v 20

Today we shall continue in this discussion of making our Hearts A home For Christ by discussing – ‘Deep secret place of our hearts’

Deep Secrets

1. What does the phrase ‘deep secret’ mean to you? Tell me

2. Do you have secrets? Your desires and fantasies? dont tell me, just think about those things for a minute

3. Who would you normally tell your secrets? Only your soulmates, parents, besties?

Introduction

Today I want you to know that every human being has a deep part of their heart where they keep very personal thoughts . You have yours and I have mine!

This place in our heart is filled with only those memories and thoughts that we hold dear to us. We guard it carefully not to let such place be accessed by strangers.

For example, In my heart, I think about my personal desires, like my wishes and dreams for the future. Now do you have yours? Reflect on it. Are you willing to share any one with me? Please go ahead.

Today’s message is very simple, I want you to ask yourself if such place can be taken over by the Lord Jesus. Are you willing to let him take hold of the secret place in your heart? If you do, Jesus can make his word to find place in every part of your heart and make your life beautiful and worthy of serving the Lord, in righteousness.

Fun Activity.

Draw one object that reflects what you have in the deep secret part of your heart. You can label the drawing if you want. Sketch out anything randomly, to show one thing you crave and desire so much, that you hold dear as a secret in your heart.

Is it your dream car, game, toys or dress?

Is it what you want to become in the future, like your dream profession?

Whatever it is, please draw an object that represent it, and write something short under it to make me understand.

Parents: please let the child draw anything, no matter how childish or amateurish the drawing it, dont take it for granted. Allow for self expression in this part. thank you!

Now I want you to know that there is nothing hidden to God. He can see every deep part of our mind where keep our desires and thought.

Read Hebrews 4 v 12 GNT

The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the heart

Today I want to encourage you to fill your heart's desires, thoughts, fantasies and cravings with the love of Christ.

If you had a magic wand, which you could wield to do anything, what's the first craving of your heart you would want the magic wand to bring to you? that very thing is your hearts desire, the secrets and fantasy you keep deep down in your heart.

There is nothing wrong in having your personal desires, however, today I encourage you to ensure such heart desires are not outside the boundaries of God's love and purpose for your life.

Do not crave for wild partying; obsessive fashion, harming yourself or others, revenge and wasteful spending. Let your cravings, imaginations and hearts fantasies be in line with the love of God. 2 Cor 10 v 5

Read 1 Cor 2 v 10b

The Spirit searches everything, even the hidden depths of God's purposes.

There is nothing hidden from God. Let the love of Christ inspire what you spend your time thinking about. If you indeed open your heart to Jesus to come and make your heart his home, you will have to allow him take over these deep thoughts and desires and cravings and let his word penetrate into your mind.

God will help you.

Introduction

Your home

A home is a dwelling place, a place where you live permanently. Usually, a home is occupied by a family or a number of people with a familiar or friendly relationship.

Your room

When a number of people live in a home, each person has their personal space, where they can call theirs. For most of you, it is your ROOM. It is your personal space, you go into your personal space to find comfort, refresh and reflect, sleep and rest, have some personal time and ultimately, enjoy the quietness and sanity that comes with being alone and at peace.

Who would you allow into your room?

Most often, you only share your personal space to someone who is really dear to you. For example, a sibling, or your best friend.

Your room is just like your heart!

Under this topic, I will like to compare your room (personal space) to your heart/mind. We must be mindful to know that our mind/heart is a room filled with whatever we allow to come into it…and such things have a great impact on our lives.

Allow Jesus in!

The Lord Jesus is interested in living in our hearts, in our mind. He wants to fill the room, he wants to fill our thoughts. However, he cannot force himself in, because he is not an armed robber. You just have to make a choice to let him in and occupy your heart, your mind and your life

Open to Revelation 3 v 20

Listen! I stand at the door and knock; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come into their house and eat with them, and they will eat with me.

Why should i allow Jesus into my heart?

If you open your heart for Jesus to live inside you, you will flourish.
If you make your heart A Home for Jesus Christ, you will become a good and obedient child of God. He will manifest His love through you. Your life will glow, and your joy will be full.

I want you to open and read Gal 5 v 22-26

According to the scripture you just read, What do you want understand from the good virtues which the spirit of God will manifest through you, if you make your heart a home where Jesus lives?

A mind filled by the Lord and His Word, is a holy, tidy mind!

And If I refuse the Lord Jesus into my life?

If you do not allow Jesus into your heart, the devil will force himself in...because he is a thief, a killer and a destroyer. Read John 10 v 10

A heart hijacked by the Devil

A heart hijacked by the devil is filled with envy, jealousy, disobedience, and all forms of sins and immorality. It is an untidy home, a home where there’s no peace or joy or love. A home filled with chaos.

May this not be your portion in Jesus name.

Happy new year guys! Welcome to a brand new year. Hope you all enjoyed the holidays. And hope you had a great time with your families and friends. Did you visit people, did they visit you?

Tell me something exciting about the year-end break.

I also hope you are having a great, exciting and challenging time as you return back to your schools for a new academic term.

This year, I pray that the Lord will make us grow in His Word, Knowing Him and Serving Him.

In this month of January, we are going to discuss a very important topic: FORGIVENESS.

INTRODUCTION

What does forgiveness mean to you?

· Letting go of the hurt that comes with the wrong doing of others

· Erasing someone else’s wrong doing

· I checked what other people have written about forgiveness online, and the summary I gather is that -

Forgiveness is a conscious and deliberate decision to RELEASE THE HURTFUL FEELINGS of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group who has offended, hurt or harmed you, regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness.

FORGIVING OURSELVES AND OTHERS – Discussion

Open your Bible to Matthew 6 v 14-15

If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.

Story story!!

Adapted from Mathew 18 v 21 - 35

Janet was a little girl who lived with her parents in London. She had many toys and video games, dresses, fairy dolls, costumes and nice things in her room. Jane was 10 years old.

She had a little brother called Justin, he was 5 years old. Janet and Justin lived with their Dad and Mom, who gave instructions that the kids should only play with their toys in their play room, and never to enter daddy and mummy’s bedroom to play with fragile items.

One day, Jane disobeyed her parents entered her mom’s room to use the large marble mirror. She wanted to do some make-up for her doll. Accidentally, jane tripped over her mum’s marble mirror and it broke.

Oh my God, what was she going to do?

Jane was frightened and she cried
and cried until her mum heard her.

She hugged her mum tightly and asked that mum should forgive her for being disobedient. Mum was angry only for a moment, but she forgave Jane.

Jane’s mum forgave her and tidied up the broken mirror from the floor. Jane was happy again that her mum forgave her, and promised to never disobey again.

The following day, Justin, while playing in the playroom, accidentally kicked Jane’s most favourite fairy doll and broke the doll’s neck. What!!!

Justin became sad, and he humbly apologised to Jane but she wouldn’t listen. She yelled and yelled at her brother and threatened to never play with Justin, ever again!. She was mad! No one could calm her down! Oh my God!!

Justin called mom and dad to explain the situation. Mum was very disappointed that Jane could not forgive her brother, when mom had forgiven Jane for a broken mirror the previous day. Mom scolded Jane for such bad and unforgiving behaviour.

She was punished for this bad attitude and she learnt her lesson from that day.

This is the end of the story.

Further Discussion

Forgiveness is an important part of our life as Children of God, because as long as we are human, and we live on earth, we will always disagree with other people’s behaviour or way of life. …even if they are children of God too.

Sometimes people may offend you intentionally, or unintentionally. You may disagree with people because they fail to reason with you, or accept your views about an issue. The same way people offend you, you may also be the one behaving wrongly towards others.

Our Lord Jesus teaches us that the two greatest commandments are to love God and Love others. Matthew 22 v 37-40

Now to love others, you cannot habitually hold grudge against them. If you truly love others around you, you should not hold hurtful feelings towards them because of past disagreements.

You have the right to be angry, offended or feel bad, because you are human. However, the Bible teaches us to be angry, or feel offended only for just a moment. Read Eph. 4:26-27

Where sin comes in, is when you habitually hold hurtful feelings towards yourself and others, especially for a prolonged time!

So the next time some one offends you, please let your anger towards them go away as quickly as you can. If you find it difficult to forgive, please pray to the Lord, to give you a heart of forgiveness and help you forgive.

Forgive others, because you serve a God who forgives. Eph 4 v 31-32

The following may help:

1. Make a decision to forgive, whether the other party asks for forgiveness or not.

2. When you know you have offended someone, ask for forgiveness, humbly!

If they fail to forgive you, choose to forgive yourself.

3. Watch what you say, in the moment of anger! Proverb 21 v 23

It is better to be calm and silent, gather your thoughts, and present your views, calmly, like a child of God. James 1 v 19 – 20

4. Pope Alexander said: ‘to err is human, to forgive is divine’.

Ask for divine help to forgive yourself, be humble to ask for forgiveness and also to forgive others.

When you intentionally decide not to ask for forgiveness when you are wrong, it is called PRIDE! God dislikes proud people. James 4v6b

Results of unforgiveness.

Let each child choose any one and discuss what they know about these?

1. Hurt and Pain in the mind.

2. Unsettled spirit

3. Malice

4. Envy and Jealousy

5. Hatred

6. Vengeance

7. Murder

8. Hell fire!! Yes, read Mark 11 v 25. if we have an unforgiving heart, we cannot fellowship with the Lord. And if we cannot fellowship with the Lord in prayer, then we are closer to hell than we are to heaven!

The Lord will help you to have a forgiving heart, in Jesus name.

Who is God?

Hello everyone, How are we all doing today?

Have you ever wondered who God is? where He lives? how big He is? and if He has other names? If you have an idea, please tell me.

Let the kids discuss who God Is, to them.

Teaching :

God is a supernatural being who existed before time began. He is God all by himself, not born any father or mother like you and I.

He is the Creator. Discuss Gen 1. God created everything you can see, everything that exists, including you and I.

God is our Provider – Jehovah Jireh Discuss Gen 22 (Abraham told Isaac, God will provide). There is nothing we have, that was not provided by God

God is our Healer – Jehovah Rapha Discuss Jer. 30 v 17.
